Board Positions

All positions require attending monthly board meetings. Candidates must be 18 years or older with no felony convictions.

President

The President serves as the chief executive of the Association, providing vision, leadership, and direction for the entire organization. This role presides over all board meetings, sets the agenda in coordination with other officers, and acts as the official representative of LVGSA to the community and partner organizations. The President ensures the board operates effectively, holds members accountable to their responsibilities, and works to uphold the mission of providing a positive softball experience for every player and family.

Vice President / Registrar

The Vice President supports the President in all aspects of league leadership and steps in when the President is unavailable. In the combined role of Registrar, this board member manages the player registration process from start to finish, including opening sign-ups, verifying eligibility, collecting required documentation, and ensuring every player is properly enrolled before the season begins. This person is often a family's first point of contact with the league and plays a key role in building a welcoming experience.

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees all financial operations of the Association, including maintaining accurate records of income and expenses, managing the league's bank accounts, and preparing regular financial reports for the board. This role is responsible for building the annual budget, paying vendors and umpires, tracking registration revenue, and ensuring the league remains in good financial standing. The Treasurer also supports compliance with any tax filings or reporting requirements tied to the league's nonprofit status.

Secretary

The Secretary is the official record-keeper of the board, documenting meeting minutes, tracking attendance, and maintaining an organized archive of bylaws, policies, and correspondence. This role ensures that decisions made by the board are clearly recorded and communicated, and that historical records remain accessible for future reference. The Secretary also helps coordinate board communication, distribute agendas, and keep the organization running smoothly behind the scenes.

UIC / Scheduler

The Umpire-in-Chief and Scheduler wears two critical hats for LVGSA game operations. As UIC, this board member works closely with the Head Umpire, who manages and trains the umpire crew, to ensure games across all divisions are officiated fairly and consistently according to LVGSA rules. As Scheduler, this person builds and maintains the season's game calendar, coordinating field availability, team matchups, and rescheduling around weather or conflicts. Together, these responsibilities keep game days running on time and by the book.

Social Media Director

The Social Media Director manages LVGSA's presence across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and other community channels. This role shares game highlights, player spotlights, event announcements, registration reminders, and other updates that keep La Verne families engaged and informed. Beyond posting content, the Social Media Director helps shape the public voice of the league, celebrating its culture and building excitement around the season.

Player Agent

The Player Agent advocates for the players and families of LVGSA, serving as a neutral resource when questions, concerns, or disputes arise. This role oversees the player draft process, monitors team placements for fairness, and ensures that league rules around player treatment and participation are followed. The Player Agent is a trusted point of contact for parents who need guidance and helps maintain an environment where every girl feels supported.

Manager Liaison

The Manager Liaison serves as the bridge between the coaching staff and the LVGSA board, making sure coaches have the information, tools, and support they need throughout the season. This role helps communicate board policies, gather feedback from coaches, coordinate coach meetings, and address concerns as they come up. The Manager Liaison also plays a role in supporting coach recruitment, onboarding, and ensuring all coaches meet league requirements including background checks and certifications.

Field Maintenance Director

The Field Maintenance Director is responsible for the condition and readiness of the fields where LVGSA games and practices are held. This role coordinates field preparation, dirt work, lining, equipment upkeep, and general maintenance to ensure a safe and professional playing environment. The Field Maintenance Director works closely with the City of La Verne, partner organizations, and volunteers to keep facilities in top shape throughout the season.

League Commissioner

The League Commissioner oversees the competitive integrity of play across all LVGSA divisions, interpreting and enforcing league rules, handling protests, and resolving disputes that arise during games or between teams. This role ensures consistency in how rules are applied, supports coaches and umpires in on-field decisions, and helps maintain a fair and positive environment for players at every level. The Commissioner also helps align local play with USA Softball standards.

Website / Communications

The Website and Communications board member maintains the league's online home at lvgsa.com and manages the flow of information between the board and the broader LVGSA community. This role publishes announcements, sends league-wide emails, and ensures families can easily find what they need. Clear, timely communication is central to this position, helping La Verne families stay connected to everything happening in the league.

Fundraising and Events Director

The Fundraising and Events Director plans, organizes, and executes the fundraising efforts and special events that help fund LVGSA programs and create memorable experiences for players and families. This role coordinates activities like opening day, picture day, tournaments, sponsorship drives, and community fundraisers, working with volunteers and sponsors to bring each event to life. The funds and goodwill generated through this role directly support equipment, field improvements, scholarships, and season-long operations.

Uniforms and Awards Director

The Uniforms and Awards Director manages everything related to outfitting LVGSA players and recognizing their accomplishments. This role handles the ordering, sizing, and distribution of team uniforms at the start of the season, then transitions to coordinating end-of-season trophies, medals, and awards. Attention to detail and timing are key, as this position ensures every girl looks the part on opening day and is celebrated properly when the season wraps up.

Snack Bar Coordinator

The Snack Bar Coordinator runs one of the busiest and most important hubs on game day. This role manages snack bar inventory, pricing, staffing schedules, volunteer coordination, and day-to-day operations, ensuring the snack bar is stocked, clean, and ready to serve families throughout the season. Because snack bar revenue is a major funding source for LVGSA, this position plays a significant role in the league's financial health while also creating a welcoming gathering spot for the La Verne softball community.

Board Member at Large

The Board Member at Large supports the mission of the organization by participating as a voting member of the board, helping ensure financial health, and representing the interests of the general membership. This individual serves as a flexible leader who provides an objective perspective on league operations, helps maintain board quorum, and leads temporary committees (such as tournament planning or scholarship reviews) to ensure the league runs smoothly and fairly.

LVGSA is entirely volunteer-run, and the board is what makes this league possible. If you've ever thought about getting more involved, this is a great way to make a real impact for the girls and families of La Verne softball.
